The Cumberland Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir is made of people from various walks of life – from real estate agents, to lawyers, to firemen, to teachers, to managers, to homemakers, to salespeople – and with various musical backgrounds – from little formal training to university music professors. As varied as we are, we all come together with the common goals of worshiping God through His gift of music and fellowshipping with each other.
As there are and have been Christians from all times and places over the past two centuries, we strive to sing repertoire from as wide a variety of times and places as possible. This serves the double function of assuring that we stay connected to the full body of the saints and that our repertoire remains varied. Previous large works we have offered include Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols,” Ray’s “Gospel Mass,” and Schubert’s “Mass in G,” among others.
We invite you to join us in our musical worship. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:00 – 8:30, and our service warm-up time is 10:30 Sunday mornings.
