George Stahl

Mr. Stahl passed away July 5, 2015 at his residence in Marshall.
George Samuel Stahl was born January 21, 1921 in Fancy Farm, Ky. to Jewell Stahl and Mary Charlotte Courtney Stahl. He graduated from Bellville, Illinois High School, and went on to receive his degrees from Missouri Institute of Law and Accounting and Washington University in St. Louis. He was Vice President of St. Louis Warehouse and Stockyards. For a number of years, he owned Kemzal Chemical Company and was a home builder and contractor, building over 250 homes in the Marshall area. George served as the President of the East Texas Cattlemens Association. He was a member of Marshall Lakeside Country Club and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.


He served his country in the US Army, and later in the US Navy serving on the submarine Bacuna, where he earned the Bronze Star. He also played Minor League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors are his special friends, Virginia Neely Sellers of Marshall, Randy Wilson, also of Marshall, Special Caregiver, Riddie Jones of Marshall, and his step-daughter, Lisa Everett and husband David of Flint, Texas.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan A. Stahl, and sister Nita.

Visitation is from 9-10 am on Thursday with the Funeral Service following at 10:00 am.    Interment is at Yates Memorial Cemetery.    The bereavement meal will be at Noon.
