Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, March 22, from 11—12:30 p.m., children sixth grade and younger participated in our annual Easter Egg Hunt!  We enjoyed the Bouncy House, lunch, face painting, and crafts.  Each child left with an Easter basket full of candy!  It was a delightful time for everybody!

 Great Children’s Christmas Pageant!

Thanks to Le Ila Dixon, Clair Fletcher, Christy Gentry, Nancy Heath, Kathleen Herman, Joey Hudson, Sibyl King, Druann Rustenhaven and Hannah Wolf for their untiring help preparing our WOW children for this year’s program.  The play was set in Bethlehem, and the children were dressed as sheep, shepherds, angels, Mary & Joseph, and The Magi.  We sang a few Christmas carols and ended with refreshments provided by the Hospitality Committee.  Our children inspire us when they do such a good job.  And what a great way to teach them about the first Christmas!

Jesus Loves the Little Children & So Do We

In addition to Sunday School and Worship, we have a nursery with an indoor play area as well as monitors for parental viewing near the sanctuary.   We have a new Pastoral Assistant for Family Ministries who emphasizes outreach to the children of our church and their families.   Children are valued, and Christian Adults take time to share the faith with them.

Our 2007 Vacation Bible School was August 6-9.

The Theme was Galilee By the Sea.

Our leaders were Le Ila Dixon and Jodi Beavers.

60 children registered.  The average age of these children was 7.78 years.

Average attendance each day was 49 children.

They were divided into five tribes (Asher, Judah, Benjamin, Simeon, and Levi).  The tribe leaders helped the children in their tribes and led them to their scheduled activities, which included a food market, bakery, crafts, jewelry, net-making, recreation, music, storytelling, and a synagogue.  Each child had a pouch of wooden coins which they used to purchase their food and jewelry.  They memorized a Bible verse each day, baked bread, danced and worshiped, played, and ate healthy food (even hummus, olives and fig preserves!).  They all went home with lots of crafts that they made themselves.

The children had such fun learning!  Every adult who had the pleasure of witnessing any of the activities was smiling broadly!  It was truly an emotional high for me.  I was exhausted, and so were all of the adults, but it was worth it…

Much thanks to the many people who helped and who were Godsends.

In God’s love, Mary Kathryn
