VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

A GREAT SUCCESS

Vacation Bible School  was a great success thanks to thirty-one adults and teenagers from Cumberland and Trinity Episcopal who made up the teaching team.

However many others helped in various other ways. Thanks to everyone who offered themselves and their time to God this week which allowed Him to bless our children through Vacation Bible School.

The 76 children who attended visited Paul each day where he was under house arrest with his guard, Brutus.  As Paul taught the children, Brutus learned about God’s love and became a believer before the week was over.  Also each day children visited the underground church where church leaders helped them understand how persecution impacted the early church.

They learned how Christians feared the Roman guards who were ever present in the market place.  Children avoided the guards as they visited the leather shop, the tile shop, the bread shop, and the toga shop...to name just a few.

Children also learned scripture each day and were taught by a scribe to record those scriptures using a stylus and a scroll. They learned that God’s love is a free gift; his love changes us and is with us forever. They learned that God’s love saves us and is worth sharing.
