SILVER PATRON AWARDS 2006

The Silver Patron Award represents a contribution of $125.00 to the Endowment Fund of the Board of Missions, with the interest on the fund going to the work of missions in the denomination.  It is presented to women who have served the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for a period of 25 years, and this year for the first time the Marshall Women's Ministry presented the award to four women who have served for 25 years with distinction.  All are ordained Deacons, and all were charter members of the congregation when it was organized in 1984.  They are:

RUTH MCCLARAN - Member of Zula Boone Circle which she has served as an officer.  Ruth was first President of Women's Ministry (formerly CPW) when it was organized in 1984. She served on the building committee for our facility, as well as other committees, taught Adult Sunday School Class, and sang in the Chancel Choir.

NELLIE MELONE - Member of Bunnie Mae Pugh Circle which she has served as an officer. Nellie has also served on Personnel Committee for a number of years.

PAT ODOM - Member of Zula Boone Circle which she has served as officer, and also is a Past President of Women's Ministry.  Pat has served on numerous committees of the church, and is a member of the chancel choir.

OLGA LARSON - Member of Gladys Bryson Circle, which she serves as an officer.  Olga served on the Hospitality Committee for many years, and also on the Worship Committee (formerly Altar Committee).

We congratulate these four on their achievements.

They will be added to the CPW Wall of Distinction (in the hall across from Conference Room) along with those who have received the Golden Patron Membership.

Text Box: "Heart to Heart"

In the Bible we read about some women of old Who served the Lord with conviction,
   were faithful and bold.
There are women among us who are like that today Who seek to do God's will and walk in His way.

Out of gratitude to Him, out of His great love Their hearts are filled from the heart of God above.
Looking to Him for strength, praying He will
    lead and guide,
They seek ways to serve Him and walk by His side.

Where would the church be without you, what
   a vital role you play
In the works and deeds of kindness you do day by day.
You feed the hungry, care for the sick, lifting
   them up in prayer.
Give comfort to the bereaved, in their grief
    and sorrow share.

You serve as elders, deacons, teachers, some even preach. The list goes on and on of ways you try
  the unchurched to reach.
You support and aid missionaries in the work they do.
The gospel is preached in foreign lands, in part
   because of you.

To gladly serve the Lord is your choice.
Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
May you rejoice in knowing you have a part Spreading God's love from heart to heart.
